Knitting

i’ve finally completed the cabled clutch that i promised to make for sis. i started knitting it last year like in june and casted it aside for the longest time. Now back in Singapore with loads of time on my hand, i picked it up again recently and started to put in the lining, button and ribbon. So here it is in it’s full glory.   cabled-clutch.jpg

the lining was made from a piece of heather bailey’s fresh spirit fat quarter stash that i had purchased last year in Canberra. (i wonder where in Singapore can i find a good craft store???) here’s the lining that was hand sewn using nylon thread. lining.jpg

i think sis will be pleased. i am!! it’s way nicer and look so much more professional that the first one i made.

One of the very first projects I started when I first learnt knitting (i.e Jan 07) was the French Market Bag. The pattern for this bag can be found at Knitty.com

The bag requires felting upon completion. It took about 45 mins in the hot machine wash (with constant checkings in case I over felt it) for the felting to come through. This is how my FMB looks like. Did u knit a FMB too?

I am using Paton’s Zhivago Baby yarn to knit this baby blanket. The pattern was created on my own and knitted using 4.5mm needles. It has a border made up of moss stitches and the main pattern using knit & purl stitches to create the alternating pattern blocks.

Prior to the arrival of winter, we’ve been warned that winter in Canberra is going to be very cold (compared to other parts of Australia, that is). So I decided to try my hands at knitting a scarf to keep myself warm.

I’ve used Lincraft’s Lima Alpaca Blend Yarn. Although this yarn has a 35% acrylic content, it is surprisingly soft to the touch  (due to the composition of alpaca wool).

My new Denise Interchangeable Needles arrived in the post yesterday. I had a pleasant surprise as I was not expecting it to arrive till later in the week. Great!!
I should be starting on my Cabled clutch & lacy scarf pretty soon! I’m also thinking of making a baby blanket & teddy for a friend who is due to deliver in a couple of months time.
