I simply love this fabric that I picked up at the fabric store a few days ago. One thing that I’ve learnt (as far a fabric shopping is concern) is to look at the clearance bin and go through as many pile as you can, coz you never know what you might find. Also, I try to scrutinise the design of the fabric coz sometimes you will spot very interesting details which might be overlooked if you look at the piece of fabric on the whole. This fabric has little ladybirds and four leaf clovers on it.
I decided to make a cute little zipped purse out of the fabric. It measures 5″ by 4″ with the bottom at 6″ wide. The curved edges were a challenge. Hard to get both side symmetrical. I guess having a good pattern and a lot of practice will definitely help.

i’ve started running 3 weeks ago.

i was never a runner, i remember dragging my feet (literally, i was walking) throughout the entire 2.4km that we had to run each week during my secondary school years. I’ve never completed a 2.4km run without stopping and walking most of the route back. i pant harder than my dogs whenever we play in the garden.

i started running because i kept hearing about the runner’s high, the state of euphoria that one experiences while running. Well, i definitely needed to keep sane (and a dose of euphoria certainly is much welcomed) while i battle with unemployment (i’ve been seeking a job for the last 5 months, the details of which i may talk about in a separate post later). i’ve also been told by my doctor that i have slightly above borderline case of high cholestrol. My physique certainly does not tell of one that has high cholestrol, but whoever thinks that skinny people = healthy are definitely wrong. So i guess these reasons are good enough motivation to get me to put on my “only used thrice” adidas supernova running shoes (even if im a newbie, at least i can try to look like pro with my co-ordinated running outfit plus wrist band).

I started by running in the estate around our house with my husband being my pacer/trainer/cheerleader. I remember once after running for what seems like a long time, i stopped as i was having bad stitches and realised to my horror that we’ve run for only 1.6km. Our target was 3km. My husband is so into running that he has this super cool Polar running computer (get this, it’s not a watch, it’s a computer!!) that is able to monitor heart rate, distance, pace, cadence and it can even provide you with a customised training plan for your next marathon.

I’d like to think that i’ve made some progress in running. i’ve managed to run 3kms almost effortlessly at a slow pace and yesterday i succeeded in running 6kms without stopping, clocking in at 48mins46secs. For the Great Eastern Women 10K Run which i’ve signed up, I hope to complete it in 1hr20mins.

Oh yes, i forgot to add that I signed up partly because of the event singlet and goody bag that is given to all participants

Christ’ death is not the end of all, but a beginning of a relationship with God because Christ was resurrected on the 3rd day (which in common day term is also known as Easter Sunday). What a blessing to be God’s child and a victorious life that we can lead because Jesus has conquered death!

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor 15: 55, 57)

The latest craft item that I’ve made are these coasters, made using 100% cotton yarn. I plan to make another one to complete it as a set of four. It makes a good gift, I think. Handmade with love.

the lining was made from a piece of heather bailey’s fresh spirit fat quarter stash that i had purchased last year in Canberra. (i wonder where in Singapore can i find a good craft store???) here’s the lining that was hand sewn using nylon thread. 

 i think sis will be pleased. i am!! it’s way nicer and look so much more professional that the first one i made. 

Easy peasy bento:  

•  Bacon & Cheese roll
• Salad tossed in light honey mustard dressing with boiled egg, slices of avocados & cheddar cheese

so, i decided earlier this week to prepare a bento that consist of inarizushi just so that i could use up the aburaage (and also my new 2-tier lunchbox that i picked up for only $2.50!! yayy!! i’m glad i did not give in to temptation & purchase one from ebay which would easily cost me 5x the price).

the wordings on the box says “Happy fruits is very delicious. I will eat this and will become fortunate all together!” How’s that for engrish!?!?

The inarizushi were topped with spinach & egg omelette rolled up to resemble a tamagoyaki. I do not have a tamagoyaki pan so i’ve used my regular round frying pan which works the same.

It would be boring to have just inarizushi for lunch, so i made some onigiris too with salmon mayo as fillings. I thought the onigiris were a little on the dry side and I would prefer it to be a little moist with a touch of flavour on the rice.

 now i had better remember to use up those baked beans!!

This was an easy lunch to prepare and it took me under 20 mins in the morning to put together:

• ’4 Cheeses’ pasta from Continental brand
• grilled salmon on the George Foreman Lean, Mean, Grilling Machine
• mini croissant from the supermarket
• small container of Kewpie mayo to complement the fish
